Duke of Wellington Visit

On Monday 5th March, the 9th Duke of Wellington paid his first visit to The Wellington Academy since it's opening. Our sponsor school Wellington College was famously founded as a memorial to his ancestor, the first Duke of Wellington.

On his travels, the Duke stopped off at the DukeBox studios to have a look around. He was particularly impressed by the space and the amount of regular programming created by academy students, as well as the fact that the station was named as a reference to his title, the 'Duke of Wellington'!

As well as visiting us, the Duke also spent time in Year 9 and 12 leadership lessons, inspected our CCF unit, had a tour of the boarding house, and sat down with the senior leadership team and our head boy and girl.

The Duke ended his morning by expressing how pleased he was to visit, and said he was overwhelmed by the excellent facilities and opportunities our pupils at the Academy have.
